CHASE CENTER, San Francisco - The Dave Matthews Band brought their 2019 summer tour to San Francisco last night performing a 22 song set in the brand new Chase Center. The annual summer tour comes in support of 2018's Come Tomorrow. The band's founding members Dave Matthews, Carter Beauford and Stefan Lessard are accompanied on tour by longtime friends Tim Reynolds on guitar, Rashawn Ross on trumpet, Jeff Coffin on saxophone, and the latest addition Buddy Strong on keyboards.
Highlights of the night included classic high energy DMB songs such as "Lie In Our Graves," "Don't Drink The Water," "Tripping Billies," "Jimi Thing," and "The Last Stop." Fans were also treated to some unexpected covers including ACDC's "Back In Black," The Bee Gees "Stayin' Alive," and Steve Miller Band's "Fly Like An Eagle." At the start of the encore Matthews teased "The Dreaming Tree" off of Before These Crowded Streets before launching in "The Last Stop." Dave Matthews Band closed out the night with a cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower."
DMB will play in Phoenix on Friday before heading to San Diego to headline Kaboo Del Mar on Saturday night. Photos and words by Mathew Tucciarone.
